Gas appliances and gas lines are regulated in Western Australia because incorrect work can create a safety risk, including gas leaks and carbon monoxide issues. That's why gas fitting work has to be carried out by a licensed gasfitter, not as a general DIY or handyman job.

A licensed gasfitter is qualified to connect, repair and service gas appliances and gas lines to the required standard, including checking that appliances are working safely once the work is done.
